5 tips for a plant-based diet

Coming soon.png

Changing your diet is one of the most effective ways to reduce your impact on the environment. The production of animal-based products accounts for 58% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the agricultural/food sector. The consumption of animal-based products is only expected to increase. in particular in developing countries. This will further increase GHG emissions and contribute to climate change.

Incorporating a plant-based diet into your life can reduce your carbon footprint significantly. For example, to produce 100 grams of beef, 50 kg of GHG are released into the atmosphere, whereas the same amount of tofu releases only 2 kg of GHG. Take a look here to see what are the environmental impacts of some of your favorite products.

The food you eat has a huge impact on the environment. Therefore, in order to reduce your own impact on the environment, it is important to reduce your consumption of animal products and incorporate more vegetarian/vegan meals. If you decide to eat meat/dairy/eggs anyway, try to buy them from local and organic farms. Some local people's livelihoods might depend on the production of meat and dairy products. It is therefore better to support local farmers than large intensive animal farms that sell their products to supermarkets. This way of consuming meat and dairy products is thus not only socially more responsible, it can also safe the emissions associated with transportation.

Since it can be difficult to eat a healthy and balanced plant-based diet, you can find some useful tips to start your enjoyable vegan/vegetarian lifestyle down below! Scroll to see some of the tips and find some healthy and yummy recipes!
